The Base Link values were obtained by doing least squares computations comparing character strengths from SC2K4 to SC2K5.
A least squares that included the following characters (which I selected as the most logical to use):
Crono, Mega Man, Sonic, Zero, Ryu, Vivi, Kefka, Solid Snake, Sora, Alucard
Resulted in an optimal scalar of 1.102384. This scalar ends up being very similar to keeping Kefka, Crono, Mega Man, Cloud, or Vivi constant.
If you use the characters above but exclude Sora and Alucard, you get an optimal scalar of 1.075213. This ends up essentially being the same thing as keeping Link constant (from 2K4 to 2K5).
If you do not include Sora, Alucard, or Solid Snake, then you get an optimal scalar of 1.092791. Once again, this ends up being similar to keeping Kefka, Crono, Mega Man, Cloud or Vivi constant.
In my opinion the 1.092791 scalar makes the most sense. And once again I would rather go the simple path of keeping one character constant than using a calculated scalar. To me, Crono and Cloud make the most sense for this purpose. For the values below, I chose to keep Crono constant (i.e., the scalar used was 1.091172343).
